Membership Categories


Individual Membership

Same individual membership offers professionals in the A/E/C field the opportunity to develop important business contacts through national and regional events, and build those relationships further through our worldwide network of Posts.


Uniformed Service or Civilian Membership - For uniformed services members and civilians who work for DOD, USCG or USPHS Only.


Individual Member - Members who do not belong to other categories.


Young Member - Special individual membership category for those under the age of 36.


Retired Member - Offered at a special yearly rate and is open to all individuals who are fully retired and no longer employed by anyone.


Student Member - Free and open to full-time high school or undergraduate students at an accredited college or university.


Life Member - Open to any existing individual member.


Sustaining Membership (Private Industry)

SAME Sustaining memberships offer your company the opportunity to network with industry leaders in the public sector and uniformed services.  Learn about upcoming projects first-hand at numerous workshops and events, such as the annual Engineering Service Chiefs and Federal Programs Briefings.  Interact with young members as they find their path in the A/E/C field.


As part of your membership, you may appoint five staff members as representatives.  SAME requires that one of those representatives must be in its Young Member category (35 years of age or younger).


Public Agency Membership

SAME Public Agency membership gives you the opportunity to work with a non-profit, professional organization that supports your mission.


Non-Profit Organization Membership

Any non-profit organization may join SAME.  Included with the membership are five slots for individual representatives to represent the organization at regional and national SAME events.  SAME requires that one of those representatives must be in its Young Member category (35 years of age or younger).


Academic Institution Membership

Academic institutions interested in mentoring the A/E/C professionals of tomorrow should work with SAME and its mentoring goals.  SAME offers contact with important officials in both the public and private sectors.


Academic Institution membership includes four slots for individual representatives to represent the institution at local, regional and national education and training events.  These representatives must be faculty or staff of the institution, and SAME requires that one of the representatives must be a young member (35 years of age or younger).
